KUTI IN COPENHAGEN!

We're glad to present our Danish comics special issue of Kuti.

Kuti28 will be released at The Copenhagen Comics Festival in Denmark end of May 2013. The paper includes 29 artists, half Danish, half Finnish. That's an edition of 10 000 pcs in total. Read it in PDF format here & more info here.

LE DERNIER CRI @ TAMPERE!

French-based collective of art-brutters Le Dernier Cri is coming to Tampere, Finland 8.-15.4.2012.

Exhibition MANIA in Gallery Rajatila (open 14.-30.4., opening 13.4. from 18 to 20) along with a screening of the movie Les religions sauvages with live soundtrack (Bolino, Laihonen, Rauhala) in Cinema Niagara. (11.4. from 19 to 20), after club (from 20 to 24) in 931 with DJ Nisä & Käs. And if that is not enough, 6th Lal Lal Lal festival will shoot some 3D-projections from LDC as well (3.5. Lepakkomies, Helsinki; 4.5. Telakka, Tampere).

EYEBALLING!

An exhibition of contemporary Finnish comics opening in Kiasma Museum (Helsinki) Friday 9.3.

Eyeballing! contains 16 artists and lots of brand new works from: Mari Ahokoivu, Terhi Ekebom, Matti Hagelberg, Jyrki Heikkinen, Kati Kovács, Hanneriina Moisseinen, Tommi Musturi, Ville Ranta, Aapo Rapi, Anna Sailamaa, Ville Tietäväinen, Katja Tukiainen, Marko Turunen and Amanda Vähämäki.

The show lasts until 9.9. so there's plenty of time to check it out!

Our auction is over. In total we managed to gather +4000 euros with the auction, subscriptions and books.

Our little (manually updated) website for the auction was joined by 74 people from nine nations to bid, with 152 bids in total and ca. 10 000 visits to the site in all.

KUTI19 + SMOKE SIGNAL 8! MASSIVE!

We're proud to present a collaborative issue of Kuti done together with the great Brooklyn-based Smoke Signal magazine. This edition is available both as Finnish and English editions. In all it's the biggest issue so far - 36 pages and 32 artists focusing this time on new American and Finnish material.

We'll have a release party for this on Thursday 7.4. in Desert Island (540 Metropolitan Ave., Brooklyn, NY), together with The Finnish Comics Annual 2011. These both along with a now book from Roope + lots of other Finnish books will be available during MoCCA festival later the weekend from our booth. In Finland we'll release the paper officially at Tampere Kuplii festival 9.-10.4.

To help Pitkämies, we've organized an aid evening and published a book called Pitkis. The money we get from these will be donated to Pitkämies.

GLÖMPX - Last exhibition in Tampere!

The last 10th show of our exhausting GlömpX -tour is here.

We're ending it all in Tampere (the place to be) in Hirvitalo - Center of Contemporary Art Pispala. The exhibition is open from 4.12.2010 to 4.1.2011

Opening 3.12.2010 from 18 to 21 with Olimpia Splendid playing! There's a Cluster gig after that in the center so that's the natural place to continue!

KUTI16 - release!

That makes four full years of Kuti! Yahoo! But we agreed in the beginning to go until issue 50 and then look back what we've done. Just figured out we'll be all 40-50 yo then. That doesn't mean anything.

The new issue contains (as you can see) headless chickens, more animals (with head), poor artists (again), nuclear power, popping eyes, guitars, science fiction, drinking problems, ski-jumping (again), boom box and lot of candy.

Just to remind: to keep this thing running, we need your help! You can SUBSCRIBE Kuti with 6 euros in Finland and 12 euros abroad. That's one year and four issues. We'll post more than just one copy so you can share it with your friends and family also. And now: have a pleasant summer everyone of you!

		We'll celebrate the 10th issue of Kuti on Thursday 11.12. with an exhibition opening here in Helsinki, at Galleria Sarjakuvakeskus (3. linja 17). That's from 6 to 8, pm. Later that evening we'll have a club in Lepakkomies (Hesari 1), performing: PYMATHON THE TORSORS Dj Asko Lantio Tickets 3 euros. New 24-page issue of Kuti will be available the same day and circulated later to every place possible!
24.10.2008 THE BIG BOOK OF KUTIKUTI
		Today we'll release the one and only copy of Kutikuti book. It's made out of wood and paint in the size of 600 x 800 mm. We made it for THE HELSINKI BIENNALE WORLD FAIR that's an exhibition gathering studios based in Helsinki. BUT HEY! There's also some works from our friends abroad: Zven Balslev, Francesco Defourny, Anneli Furmark, Bendik Kalteborn, Kolbeinn Karlsson, André Lemos, Nicolas Mahler, Ilan Manouach, Luke Ramsey and Till Thomas. That explains it's worth visiting! Opening on Friday 24th of October, starting at 6 pm. The Exhibition is open until 25.1.2009 so you've got plenty of time to check it. And yes, the place is Design Museum, Korkeavuorenkatu 23, Helsinki.

		So, here we go again. KUTI7 is out as separate editions in Finnish and Swedish. They both include also translation in English. The Finnish edition got out TODAY and the Swedish one will be released bit later, officially in Small Press Expo festival in Stockholm 25.-27.4. year 2008. Content is the same though we made separate covers. 		Because we forgot to include Daada's ad in the latest Kuti, please read carefully the following introduction to the new book of Katja Tukiainen: Katja Tukiainen Works collects more than hundred of the artist's paintings from 1999 to 2007. It's an unique world of its own. The themes range from the difficulties of potty pissing, toys, bambies, birds and a boy walking a caterpillar to crocheting, travelogues, motherhood and visions of America. It's a four colour book that's printed on sturdy 170g paper, 112 pages in all. The book is tri-langual: in English, French and Finnish. 		After couple of years' silence we finally got it online. Well, it's not finished and we'll be updating some features here someday "soon." You know, the features in internet are unlimited. So well plug it all in your brains I guess. Meanwhile, leave us a message.

(28.8.2012) The 27th Helsinki Comics Festival brings along exhibitions – find Amanda's 'Piilomaa' in Gallery MAA-tila (Albertinkatu 19) and Roope's 'Kettu' in Napa Gallery (Eerikinkatu 18).

(9.11.2011) Sad to inform that we had to raise the subscription prices of Kuti. It's now 8 eur in Finland and 15 anywhere else. This due the raised shipping expenses (we've actually made minus with the subscription for the past six months) and the fact that we need money to keep the magazine going. No hard feelings, okay?

(15.9.2011) Ok. There's an exhibition TÄSS ON CROWLEY, MOI! of Aapo, Sami and Petriina opening 17.9. at 18 in Myymala2, Helsinki, while KK works can be seen at Comicfestival Hamburg in Galerie auf Halb Acht 22.-24.9. and as part Festival Les Boréales in Alençon, France 9.11.-11.12.

(9.6.2011) Couple of exhibitions available for your eyes in Finland this summer: TELTTARETKI is a group exhibition of comics in Salo Art Museum including also Anna, Jarno, Aapo and Amanda from Kutikuti, open 11.6.-28.8. Meanwhile, Tommi has an exhibition in Gallery TR1, Tampere with a title FLYING CARPET, open until 31.7.

(14.3.2011) Go see Tommi's exhibition as part of the Fumetto International Comics Festival in Luzern, Switzerland. That's open 9.-17.4.

(25.2.2011) Some more screenings for Jari's short film Birthday. You can see it in March at Brussels, Anima 2011 (7.-10.), at Akbank Shortfilm Festival in Istanbul (12.-15.) and at Athens Animfest (18.-20.).

(19.10.2010) We were gladly surprised that the Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland decided to award Kuti with the culture magazine prize 2010. Thank you! Everyone! Readers! Artists! Distributors! Now back to work...

(1.10.2010) Jari finished his first animated short this summer. You can see it at Holland Animation Festival 3.-7.11 and at Banjaluka Animated Film Festival 22.- 27.10.

(30.9.2010) The new studio starts to be in order and we can finally again start to concentrate on working - yahoo!

(8.3.2010) This spring we'll be present in MoCCA (USA), SPX (SWE), Strasburg Comics Festival (FRA), Oslo Comics Expo (NOR) and Crack (ITA). See you friends!

(17.12.2009) Amanda's book La fête des Mères is now out in from Fremok, while Tommi's Unterwegs mit Samuel will be out in Germany from Reprodukt in February 2010.

(10.9.2009) It's time of the Helsinki 24. Comics festival which this year presents GLÖMPX as one of the main exhibitions. Thanks to Otto and MUU gallery. Go, see and hear it until 20.9.!

(8.9.2009) While Aapo sailed to Mexico we're welcoming some new people to join Kutikuti: Anna II and Juliacks - welcome!

(13.6.2009) GLÖMPX tour continues. The exhibition is on already in Bedeteca, Lissabon, Portugal. We'll be coming to Feira Laica around end of June and Amon Düde will throw a gig. Come to say hi!

(15.2.2009) There's couple of exhibitions here or near: Tommi's works on Samuel can be found in TELL ME MORE -exhibition in Andrejsala, Riga, Latvia... while Amanda will soon be hanging some brand new works in FUMETTO, Luzern, Switzerland. And if that's not enough, the first exhibition of GLÖMPX tour will start soon in BILBOLBUL, Bologna, Italy.

(15.1.2009) Couple of things: Kuti can from now on be found also in Jyväskylä and Pori here in Finland - thanks to some people! Meanwhile, we got a prize from Peki , that was a prize in pure liquid - DIY-FINLANDIA. Read more about it here (in Finnish, sorry).
