This is some of the best stuff in Finnish underground comics of this millenium. Very dark humour, laughs at everything and manages to surprise all the time. There's some strangely twisted and merciless logic in what Jarno does - his comics first faze, then scare and in the end, make the reader laugh. Behind the weird world of his there's an inner beauty, something idealistic.

This book is a collection of comics and drawings and comes with English translation on the bottom of the pages.

This debut graphic novel is a filthy trip into a dark side of a relationship. The imaginary principal character, named Jarno Latva-Nikkola, tries to improve his stale relationship by pretty original means. When this antihero (after unexpected turns) gets to know the true Master of Emotions, laws of love take new more logical shape. It's a love story lost with one hundreth of a second.

Hand-made silkscreened book by French Le Dernier Cri. You really CAN'T beat the colours you get with silkscreening. This is a work I did during four months spring 2010. Tried to keep this thematically coherent, otherwise it's a mess again. What stands out is PANIC. The images here are not from the printed books, but the original artwork. The Finnish edition of "Walking With Samuel" is finally here. Well, it's almost a wordless comic so this might be understandable even to you.

This is a something Tommi made for three years. A pale ghost-like fellow walking around the world. He's the strongest and the weakest one out there, wandering around in a fantasy world, climbing to the highest mountain to roll a cigarette, searching for home and meaning. "Walking" here serves as a metaphor for thinking.

This book was released simultaneously also in Swedish (Optimal Press), Portuguese (Marcos) and French (5C). However, we've got only the Finnish edition available.

Yet another small publication from Tommi. This one is a collection of his teenage drawings from 1986-1992. As the title shows this magazine deals with death. On the other hand it's a portrait of a frustrated teen living on the Finnish countryside, listening to metal, skateboarding and drawing. There's lots of skulls and dead people in this release. You can consider this either 'funny' or 'disgusting'.

Naaburger is the double meat pie of of comics! Known as an alternative comic artist, this "publication" from Mr. Rapi is just cheap. Boring humour that tastes like old coffee at the countryside Teboil station. Mostly sad and not funny at all. Most to read crap.

Though the samples here are in Finnish, this book contains an English translation. God knows why.

An imaginary story of what would happen if the world was controlled by a selfish, greedy and cruelsome emperor. Doesn't that sound familiar? Every means are used when King Toffee wants more candy. This is a great satire on power and the lose of sense of reality. Third book from Aapo. It's good.

This long awaited book is a story of Aapo's grandmother Meti. Based on discussion between Meti and Aapo the book makes a view on one Finnish life, both its joys and sorrows. Beautifully drawn, in full colour, hardcover. Just hope it'll be out in English, French, whatever language. Deserves that.

This is a massive +300-page big size anthology of Finnish comics, in English and supposed to be out annually from now on. Editor Ville Hänninen has selected along 20 artists from Matti Hagelberg to Amanda Vähämäki and Kati Kovács to Marko Turunen. In the article that begins the book he points out the weird worlds specific for Finnish comics, born where everyday life and surreal intersect. In all, it's a good overview on what's happening out here atm.

An anthology we made to support the best comic store in Finland, Pitkämies. The store is finished, but this book will hopefully help Jelle a bit with the economical struggles he got into, at least it serves as a memory of something great that existed for couple of years.

Pitkis collects the top of Finnish comics today. Around 30 artists drew their version of what is and was the comic shop of their dreams. And as usually, some drew something completely different.

All the money we get from this will be donated to Pitkämies. This is an edition of 300 pcs so better buy it now before it turns into collector's item. It's all in Finnish only this time, sorry about that.
